The Lhundrup Topgye Ling Ngakpa Dratshang, located in the remote village of Payingdem, Arunachal Pradesh (India), is a unique centre for the transmission and preservation of the ngakpatradition, the tradition of non-celibate tantric Buddhist practitioners. It was founded in 2001 by Lopon P. Ogyan Tanzin Rinpoche, a lama and scholar of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and a disciple of the late Dudjom Rinpoche (1904-1987).
The Ngakpa Dratshang’s distinctive curriculum focuses on the doctrinal, meditative, yogic, ritual and artistic heritage of the ngakpatradition. The students are taught Tibetan language and are trained in the recitation of liturgies and prayers. They have in-depth classes in Buddhist philosophy and are taught the tantric practices from the Dudjom Tersar lineage. They also study astrology as well as traditional crafts, such as the making of religious masks, of damaru drums, and of ngakpa shawls. Finally, in order to prepare them for the modern world, they are taught English, mathematics and Hindi.
More than 95 children and teenagers have passed through the ranks of this school since its creation. At present there are twelve students (six junior and six senior) pursuing their education in the Ngakpa Dratshang.
The Lhundrup Topgye Ling Ngakpa Dratshang has brought knowledge and hope to an area where education was completely absent. These students are the future of the ngakpa tradition. Please help by sponsoring one of the students.

This covers the basic living costs of a student for half a year, including food and lodging as well as basic educational materials, but excluding teachers’ salaries.
